LinkedIn says more than a million people have clicked its “Seems like AI slop” button since introducing the feature on July 30th. Chief product officer Hari Srinivasan disclosed the figure in a post published Thursday, according to The Verge. The button, accessible through the three-dot menu on any post, allows users to flag content they suspect was generated by artificial intelligence.
The feature arrived weeks after AI detection firm Pangram reported that 41 percent of LinkedIn’s longform posts were flagged as fully AI generated, a finding first reported by 404 Media. LinkedIn has not stated what action, if any, is taken on posts after they are flagged through the button, nor has it detailed how the flagged data is used internally.
The Verge’s report does not specify how LinkedIn verified the click count or whether the company plans further changes to the platform’s content moderation tools in response to the volume of flags. No additional statement from Srinivasan beyond the reported figure was included in the available coverage.
The disclosure comes amid broader scrutiny of AI-generated content across social platforms, with Pangram’s earlier findings cited as context for why LinkedIn introduced the flagging tool. The Verge’s account, sourced to Srinivasan’s post and the earlier 404 Media report, is the extent of confirmed detail on the matter at this time.
